A1 Roofing’s KangaRoof worked on a residential roof replacement in Baltimore, Maryland, where removing the existing roofing exposed damaged sections of the wood decking. Removing the Existing Roofing
The crew stripped the existing roof covering and removed old underlayment to expose the wood plank deck. Wide views of the house show the work extending across the front roof slopes and around the dormer.
An elevated debris container was positioned beside the roof, with tarps spread across portions of the ground below. These provided collection areas for material removed during tear-off, while replacement roofing materials were staged near the front porch.
Exposing Damaged Wood Decking
Close-up photos show broken and deteriorated wood around a pipe penetration near the lower roof edge. Other views show sections of decking removed, exposing the framing below, with loose boards lying on the roof during the work.
These details are a central part of this project: the tear-off made the condition of the underlying boards visible. Looking only at the outer roof covering would not have provided the same view of the deck.
